German Unification Before and After: Generations, Dictatorship, Society

Following German unification in 1990, it rapidly became apparent that East and West Germans had less in common than their shared pre-1945 past might suggest. This talk explores some of the hidden generational dynamics of recent German history and the lingering legacies of the two German dictatorships.
Speakers: Mary Fulbrook is Professor of German history and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at University College London; Arne Hofmann is the Head of the Cold War Studies Project, and Masters Tutor in the International History Department at LSE.
