Sarah B. Snyder talks about the influence of the 1975 Helsinki Final Act and the human rights movement that developed in its wake. She will explore the connections among Eastern European dissidents, human rights activists in the West,and high-level diplomats and argue their common efforts helped contribute to the peaceful end of the Cold War.
Dr Sarah B. Snyder is Lecturer in International History at University College London and an associate of the LSE-IDEAS-Cold War Studies Programme.
Dr Arne Hofmann is Joint Faculty Tutor for the Arts and Humanities and Social and Historical Sciences at University College London.
